Two shops, two very different bowls. The fastest way to understand how wide ramen really is.
One bowl tells you what ramen is. Two bowls tell you how different it can be. On this tour we go to two shops, usually a short walk or one train stop apart: a clean, light bowl first (shio or shoyu, chicken or fish), then a rich one (tonkotsu, chicken paitan, or something heavier if you're brave).
At the first shop you get my Ramen 101. At the second we go deeper — the soup, the tare, the noodles, why this shop does it this way. Between the two we walk, and I show you the signs I look for when I'm hunting for a good shop. By the end you'll taste the difference between a good bowl and a great one.
You order both bowls yourself. If you want smaller portions, say so and I'll ask for you — two full bowls is a lot even for me. After, I send you my guide and my personal Tokyo ramen list.
You tell me your taste and your area. I pick two shops, check them, and email you the meeting point.
We meet at the station. Shop 1: the light bowl. Ramen 101 in the line.
The walk: how I find great shops, and what to look for.
Shop 2: the rich bowl. The deep dive — soup, tare, noodles.
Outside: what you ate, photos, questions.
Goodbye at the station. My guide and my ramen list land in your inbox.
At a station exit near the first shop, within a few stops of where you're staying. I email you the exact spot with a photo at least 2 days before (within a few hours for last-minute bookings).
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time (full refund). Within 24 hours the booking is non-refundable. If I have to cancel — typhoon, emergency — you get a new date or a full refund. Full policy.
“Hiro has a real passion for ramen and it shows in his knowledge. He just wants to share that love with others. He was accommodating to our dietary restrictions and found the perfect place for us. He scouted it out in advance and made sure it was a good option for us. It was excellent.”
For most people, one full bowl plus one small bowl is right. I'll help you pace it, and smaller portions are fine.
Yes, as the second bowl, if you're up for it. Tell me in the notes.
Last start is 17:00, so the tour ends by about 20:00. Earlier is better — some great shops close in the afternoon.
