Tokyo's cult ramen, ordered the right way — with a local next to you.
Jiro-style is the ramen Tokyo locals argue about. Thick, chewy noodles. A mountain of cabbage and bean sprouts. Pork fat, garlic, and a soup that is pure power. It has its own rules, its own words, and its own fans — and almost no English anywhere.
That's why people skip it, and that's why I built this tour. We meet near the shop, and while we line up I take you through everything: where Jiro came from, what you're about to eat, how the ticket machine works, where to sit, and what to say when the master asks for "the call" (your toppings). Then you order. Yourself. I'm right there if you need me, but you won't.
After the bowl we talk about what you just ate, and I show you the signs I look for when I'm hunting for a good shop — so you can find your own for the rest of your trip. Then I send you my Ramen 101 guide and my personal Tokyo ramen list.
I email you the meeting point — station, exit and a photo — at least two days before.
We meet at the station and walk to the shop (5–10 minutes).
In the line: Ramen 101, and the Jiro rules. I show you the guide on paper.
The ticket machine, the seat, the call. You order. We eat.
Outside: what you just ate, how to find shops on your own, photos.
Goodbye at the station. My guide and my ramen list land in your inbox.
At a station exit near the shop. I email you the exact spot with a photo at least 2 days before (within a few hours for last-minute bookings). If you're staying far from Shinjuku, tell me your area when you book and I'll find a Jiro-style shop closer to you if I can.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time (full refund). Within 24 hours the booking is non-refundable. If I have to cancel — typhoon, emergency — you get a new date or a full refund. Full policy.
“Hiro has a real passion for ramen and it shows in his knowledge. He just wants to share that love with others. He was accommodating to our dietary restrictions and found the perfect place for us. He scouted it out in advance and made sure it was a good option for us. It was excellent.”
Yes. When you order you can ask for less noodles ("men sukuname") and less vegetables. I'll teach you exactly what to say.
No. It's rich, salty and garlicky, not spicy.
Tell me in the notes. If it fits the time and your area, usually yes.
